From 2003-11-06 to 2003-11-07
Venue: Leipzig, Germany
Summary:
Providing unpolluted water is an increasing problem for many countries throughout the world. Since natural resources are restricted, the main policy to tackle this problem is to improve water management and to reuse adequately treated wastewater. The main aspect of municipal wastewater utilization for agricultural purposes is to remove pathogenic germs. Nature-oriented wastewater treatment methods exhibit varying pathogen removal efficiency. Particularly constructed wetlands often offer good pathogen removal rates. However, the mechanisms of the pathogen removal process have not been completely elucidated up to now. The purpose of this meeting is to summarize the present knowledge and to discuss solutions optimizing the processes.
