Venue: IHE-Delft

Summary:
Building human and institutional capacity is an essential building block for sustainable water resources management and service delivery.
The objectives of the symposium are to:
(1) Encourage and create collaborative clusters as a vehicle to implement
innovative and promising education and training programs; and for this purpose to:
(2) take stock of effective policies, institutional and implementing arrangements for water education and training; and in particular, to review analytical and decision making processes, instruments, tools and best practices including learning modalities (e.g. use of information and communication technology, role-playing, distance learning and traditional methods);
(3) articulate the needs for education and training (demand) and the means to meet the needs (supply) for the short and long term, consistent with the Global Water Partnership Framework for Action.
The symposium will concentrate on the steps to be taken by the participants to go from strategy to action. It will be guided by the themes of innovation and collaboration.
The symposium will stimulate exchange of experience, sharing of ideas and identification of approaches and solutions through plenary and working group sessions. Short presentations and demonstrations will take place during the symposium, and provision is made in the program to include presentations unscheduled at the time of the writing of this brochure. Poster sessions will also be organized to provide opportunities to publicize and demonstrate water related learning products and services. Arrangements will be made to facilitate the formation of collaborative clusters.
