From 2004-08-17 to 2004-08-24
Venue: 't Elzenveld Congress Centre, Antwerp, Belgium
Summary:
The Aquatic Ecosystem Health & Management Society (AEHMS) started up the Sediment Quality Assessment symposia 10 years ago in Sweden. Only a limited number of people were interested in the assessment and management of sediments, but since then there has been increasing interest, reflected by the increasing number of participants every two years respectively in Sweden, Italy, The Netherlands, Japan and the USA. Sediment management has evolved over this period to cover risk management on a watershed level. This symposium provides a forum to present and explore state-of-the-art technology in the field of sediment quality assessment and management from source to sink. International experts working on sediment issues will have the chance to meet and discuss current topics related to the field. Prior to the symposium the final workshop of the SedNet working group "Site Investigation and Characterisation" will be held to determine a definite proposal for the monitoring of sediment quality in European river basins.
Organizers: Aquatic Ecosystem Health & Management Society (AEHMS), Research Group Ecosystem Management, University of Antwerp (UA), Flemish Environment Agency (VMM), and the Ministry of Flemish Community, Division of Water (AMINAL)
