The UNESCO Office, Jakarta has been cooperating since 1993 with the Regional Steering Committee of the International Hydrological Programme (RSC) for Southeast Asia and the Pacific in convening annual meetings with the representatives from the IHP National Committees of the region. Such meetings, which have been held in different countries of the region, are aimed to report, evaluate and review the various activities carried out within the framework of the programme, as well as to design new ones. In conjunction with the RSC meetings, annual technical conferences and symposia have been held, bringing together many specialists from the water sector throughout the region and outside.
The 10th RSC meeting will serve as a regional forum to discuss how to orient the on-going and future activities foreseen within the plan for the 6th phase of the IHP. The meeting will be held in conjunction with the “International Conference on Urban Hydrology”. The conference’s main theme, “Urban problems in the new millennium” will be addressed in various sessions covering different aspects of urban hydrology and water resources management; in addition, a special session will be dedicated to the presentation of scientific papers by researchers involved in the framework of the RSC.
