Summary:
The United Nations General Assembly has declared 2005-2014 the Decade for Education for Sustainable Development. To mark the beginning of the Decade, the Centre for Environment Education India, in partnership with Ministry of Environment and Forests and Ministry of Human Resource Development, UNESCO and UNEP, is organizing an international conference 'Education for a Sustainable Future' (ESF).
'Education and Communication for Water and Sanitation' is one of the several workshop themes within this Conference. The thematic workshop will focus primarily on drinking water, personal hygiene and environmental sanitation. Cross-cutting issues related to participation, vulnerability and gender will be woven through the major discussion areas. Special attention will be given to matters related to review of state policies and to governance.
'Education for a Sustainable Future' is planned as a forum for the international community of those involved in education and communication to meet and to share experiences and learning in Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
