From 2005-02-17 to 2005-02-18
Venue: Savannah, Georgia, U.S.
Summary:
Water conservation has been used for decades as a short-term measure to help utilities manage their water supply during a drought. Over the last several years however, conservation has become increasingly recognized as a vital part of a comprehensive approach to water resources management, not only in the western states, but also throughout the United States.
This year's conference features speakers from around the country, further showing that more and more utilities are aware of the importance of long-term conservation initiatives.
Two water conservation workshops will be organized within the conference:
- the Conservation Fundamentals and Innovations Workshop provides an overview of the fundamentals of effective water conservation programmes, as well as new initiatives and upcoming innovations
- the It's Not Just for Drought Anymore Workshop addresses the challenges facing utilities as water conservation shifts from a crisis management tool to part of a comprehensive approach to water resources management.
Organizers: American Water Works Association's (AWWA), California Urban Water Conservation Council, Georgia Section AWWA, Georgia Water Wise Council
