The mission and purposes of the JMD are: - Establishment of observation networks and forecast offices. - Establishment of rapid communication systems for national and international data and product exchange to fulfil international commitments. - Provision of services for aviation, marine, agriculture, hydrology, environment and other economic sectors and issuance of related warnings and forecasts. - Promotion of research and training in the different fields of meteorology.
