ALMAE provides a forum for discussion and exchange whose aim is to provide access to clean fresh water in Morocco. ALMAE relies intensely community involvement and makes this a priority in its initiatives.

This ministry has in charge, among other missions, the setting up of the national water-related policy. Important programmes deal with drinking water and rural settlements (PAGER), desertification, and dams.

In order to carry out its missions in this environment in continuous change, the DMN fixed the following strategic objectives and development prospects : - To improve the quality of forecasts and weather warnings intended for the various socio-economic sectors; - To support and develop the research programs in the field with a national focus, in particular on the study, comprehension and prediction of variability and climatic change; - To reinforce international and national co-operation; - To consolidate regionalization and develop a new institutional framework for the DMN; and - To develop commercial activity and promote communication.

ONEP's main missions are to ensure drinking water supply and to monitor water quality.
