The ministry’s mission is to implement and develop state policy with regards to agriculture, fishing, the environment and water, promoting those sectors, and coordinating related actions with other ministries. It is in charge of managing available resources and executing the construction of basic infrastructures necessary to conserve the agricultural, environmental and hydraulic patrimony. It also elaborates strategies to ensure sufficient a constant food production, support exportation, protect water from contamination, and develop and support agriculture, environment and water related research.
