The T. G. Masaryk Water Research Institute represents, within the Czech Republic an institution where up-to-date methods and time-tested procedures are continuously developed. The Institute guarantees complex handling of tasks related to the water cycle and water use, taking into account links to protection and development of the environment.
The CHMI is a central state institute specialized in the fields of air quality, hydrology, water quality, climatology, and meteorology.
The object of CHMI's activity in the these fields is to integrate the performance of public service in a rational, efficient and economical manner, by establishing and operating monitoring stations with the aid of a telecommunications network.
The CHMI provides forecasts and warnings. It is also in charge of processing the results of observations, measurements and monitoring, of the creation and maintenance of databases, and of the development and coordination of scientific and research activities.
