The International Waters projects aim at achieving a comprehensive, ecosystem-based approach to the sustainable management of international waters and to incorporate both developmental and ecological needs.
PEMSEA is a Global Environment Facility (GEF), implemented by the UNDP and the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Eleven countries participate to this initiative, to ensure that the seas of East Asia can continue contributing to the well-being of the people of the region. Integrated coastal management is one of the main components of the programme.
