The Senegal River basin is shared by Guinea, Mali, Mauritania and Senegal.

legend		 The flood plain ecosystems have been most affected by construction of dams, in less than ten years, the degradation of these environments and the consequences on the health of the local population have been dramatic.
The Senegal River basin is divided into three main parts: the delta, the valley (low, medium, high), and the high basin. The Senegal River basin has three distinct parts: the upper basin, which is mountainous, the valley, and the delta, which is a source of biological diversity and wetlands.
