Courses on Co-operation and Prevention of Conflicts in the Management of Transboundary Waters in South East Europe
Fifteen participants from almost all the south-eastern European countries met in Thessaloniki, Greece from 16 to 21 October 2006 to attend the pilot-course on Co-operation and Prevention of Conflicts in the Management of Transboundary Waters in South East Europe provided by 6 trainers from the Balkans and Israel.
The purpose of this pilot activity – involving professional jurists, scientists, diplomats, researchers, engineers and journalists – was to test, obtain feedback, and improve PCCP's educational material related to the co-operation and prevention of conflicts in the management of transboundary waters in south-eastern Europe.
The objectives of the course are three-fold:
- to improve local and regional knowledge on the Integrated Water Resources Management
- to improve the understanding of the process of conflict transformation and
- to provide instruments for negotiation and strengthen regional "water diplomacy"
