United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization - UNESCO
This document sets out UNESCO's views and suggestions for inclusion in the Johannesburg WSSD agenda and future action by governments and other actors and stakeholders in support of sustainable development. Freshwater resources and supporting ecosystems are major focuses.

Food and Agricultural Organization - FAO
As the task manager for many of the land-related chapters of Agenda 21 as well as a major partner in the implementation of several other chapters of Agenda 21 including Freshwater, the FAO is particularily involved in the preparations for the Summit.
United Nations Industrial Development Organization - UNIDO
UNIDO has been active in both national and regional preparations towards the WSSD.

The regional preparatory process, that is conducted by UNECE in close cooperation with the UNEP regional office, has chosen a 'the whole of government' approach with a broad range of stakeholders invited to participate in the process.
