Project Description

The DENEMA project promotes direct collaboration between education, health care professionals and business communities in Central Asia and telematics applications developers from the European Union.
The project focuses upon testing and adapting telematics products in Central Asia and supplying the latest information about the Central Asian telematics market.
Activities, which have been implemented include workshops training people in distance education (Bishkek, May'98), SME telematics applications (Tashkent, March'98) and telemedicine (Almaty, October'98), as well as establishment of the Central Asian telemedical network.
The highly successful Eurasia On-line ‘98 Conference took place in Almaty in October 1998. This was a joint conference between the countries of Central Asia and the European Union to increase cooperation in the area of new markets for telematics products and services for healthcare, education and training and electronic commerce.

How to Participate

Anyone interested in joining these projects can discuss their ideas with the experts at KATELCO to see if they are appropriate to the DENEMA project. Medical institutions can also consider joining and contributing in the Telemedical Network. (The interested parties may need to consider self-financing their participation in the network, which means covering expenses for Internet connectivity and hardware). It will then be possible to contact the National Commission or Delegation concerned who will in turn evaluate the proposal and forward the request to UNESCO.
