  Project Description

UNESCO is developing a CD-ROM based lesson containing images, texts and sounds illustrating the cultural heritage of Pakistan. It is being developed as an extension of the HeritageNet project to Pakistan. It will be principally aimed at secondary school learning and shall be made available from the end of 1999.

A public presentation of the CD-ROM is planned for one of the main museums in Pakistan in order to launch the project. Copies of the CD-ROM will be distributed free of charge to secondary schools in the region.

The project also looks to establish a Virtual Observatory on the information society and youth in South Asia. It aims to bring together general information in public domain Web Sites related to political, cultural and economic information, information on youth organisations and universities, with links to other Web Sites established by youth organisations in the region, and promote cyber communication with the rest of the world.
