This application will only be relevant for documentary heritage
which is either on the Memory of the World Register or for documentary
heritage, which in the opinion of the International Advisory Committee
deserves further consideration, but is lacking a management plan.
In the latter case the application would be for funds to develop
a management plan, the outline of which is given in Annex 1 of
Appendix B.
The following list of factors is indicative only: more rather
than less information would normally be required by the International
Advisory Committee.
A brief statement about the significance - this will have already
been given in detail in the Nomination Form (Appendix B)
Copy of management plan or indication that application is for
funds to develop one. In this case the application will address
the issues outlined in Annex 1 of Appendix B.
Present physical state of the documentary heritage.
Extent to which it is endangered.
Details about the project, including, but not restricted to:
. Partners
. Preservation actions, including materials, methods and standards to be followed
. Qualifications of personnel
. Training requirements
. Proposed contractual arrangements
Copyright status of documentary heritage
. Products and their ownership
. Distribution of products and allocation of profits
. Budget
. Time frame
. Bibliographic control of original and products, including an indication of availability in a number of different languages
. Extent of cooperation among countries
. Levels of access, including any restrictions
Marketing strategy
. Long term management of products
A consideration of these factors will determine the feasibility
of the project and form the basis of the decision made by the
International Advisory Committee.
Similar consideration will have to be given to applications for
a Memory of the World label to a proposed project where no funding
is being requested from the Memory of the World Fund.
