When creating a text file, it is advised that either Windows Latin I (the code that the English language version of Windows, and therefore the WRITE and WORDPAD programs, use) or Windows Latin II code (the code that the Czech language version of Windows, and therefore the WRITE and WORDPAD programs, use) be used. You can also work with the editors which create documents in Latin I, Latin II code (one of the codes used by the T602 editor) or in the code of the Kamenický brothers.
In accordance with the standard [1], the HTML description consists of general data about the manuscript and descriptions of its individual pages. From now on, we will often use the word record to describe an individual page of the manuscript. Each type of record is made up of specific data sets, which we call statements. Each statement has its own name (denomination) (for example: Foliation, Latin text, Translation, ...), type (only TEXT, DATE, and NUMBER are allowed), label (identification), language and contents (value) for every record (for example: 1r, Pictura his significat ..., This picture presents...).
The MNSCR.TXT file has the following structure:
The individual consecutive parts in the MNSCR.TXT file follow in the
aforesaid order and are separated from each other with at least two exclamation points
"!!........". The line cannot contain any characters before the exclamation
points. Anything can be written after the exclamation points. This note will not show up
again in the HTML document. The document is ended by two exclamation points and the word
END (eventually End, end, ..., it does not matter if you use upper or lowercase
letters).

The first part of the MNSCR.TXT file can contain the following statements:
Document Title ... identification name of the document which is shown
in the main window of the Internet browser for the person using
the browser. The document title can, but does not have to be the same
as the Title.
Language of the Original ... language in which the original manuscript
or the old printed book was written using the two-character
abbreviation following the ISO639 standard.

If any of the statements are not required and they are not needed for working with the manuscript, they can be left out. Individual statements can be written in any order.
When writing statements, the name of the statement goes first (for example: Shelf-number, Library, Owner, ...) and then what each statement contains (information about the manuscript) is filled in.
The name of the statement has an exclamation point "!" as the
first character of the line and ends with a colon which must be followed with a pressing
of the Enter key. The name of the statement has to be located on one line. During the
construction of the names of the statements, the size of the letters and the number of
spaces or tabs between the exclamation point, individual words, and the colon do not
matter. Please note that there must be at least one space between individual words. The
following are examples of some of the possible ways to create names of statements.

The contents (values) of the statement follow after the name of the statement on the following line. The recommended language for the first part of the file (for the general information about the manuscript) is English.
Title and Document Title has to be written on one line. We assume that
they both do not exceed 250 characters. The contents of the other statements can be
arranged so that the resulting text in the HTML document is properly separated: A tab
or one or more spaces at the beginning of the line, introduces a new paragraph
and at the same time a new entry. Hard spaces, which are not supposed to be
supplied at the end of the line during browsing, are marked like "_".
For example: 1 kg will be written like 1_kg, J. Hus like J._Hus etc. Then the
browser will not be allowed to place text before the hard space at the end of a line nor
after it, at the beginning of the next line.
Special rules are observed when writing the statements Contents,
Notation and Illuminations. These rules can be but do not need to be adhered to (see Contents, Notation and Illuminations statements).
In the second part of the document, the names, types, labels, and languages of all statements are defined in separate lines. With the help of these statements, the individual pages of the manuscript will be described. The first character in the line is an exclamation point "!". This is followed by the denomination of the statement. The name of the statement is followed by a colon ":" and all the other three parameters separated by a comma. The type can be either TEXT, DATE, or NUMBER (see [1]). The label must start with the ASCII letter. It can consist only of ASCII letters, ASCII numbers, dots "." and hyphens "-" (see [1]). The language is a two-character abbreviation following the ISO639 standard; it marks the language in which the statement is written. The low or upper case in the label and in the language has no relevance. No other characters in the line (with the exception of the mark-up of the end of the line, blanks, or tabs) are not permitted:

It is possible that in subsequent parts of the MNSCR.TXT file, which contain descriptions of individual pages of the manuscript, there are statements (only name + contents) which are defined in the second part of MNSCR.TXT document. Only one of the statements, Foliation or Pagination, is mandatory.
All names of statements (for example: Foliation, Motif, ...) have an
exclamation mark "!" as the first character of the line. At the end of the line,
after the name of the statement, is a colon ":" which is followed by a pressing
of the Enter key. It is OK if there are spaces and tabs between the exclamation point and
the name of the statement. The entire name, including the exclamation point, must be
contained on one line. Individual words of the name must be separated by at least on space
or tab. The size of the letters in the names of statements does not matter. All of the
following examples are correct:

The line just underneath the name of the statement contains the contents of the statement (for example: 7r, Mexico - the city - ecclesiastical architecture - the Seminary of St Ildefonso, ...). When the contents of a statement are left out, it means the same as if both the name of the statement and its contents were omitted. Information and numbers for statements of the DATE and NUMBER type have to be on separate lines and no separators, except spaces, tabs, or characters at the end of the line, are allowed.
Only one of the Foliation or Pagination statements is required for each of the records. Foliation denotes the number of the described sheet, whereas Pagination denotes the number of the described page. The contents of these statements are firmly set (see Foliation and Pagination statements) and are generated by the GENTEMP program (see [3]). The Applicable foliation or Applicable pagination statements, which are not required, also play an important role in the describing of manuscripts. With these statements, the people working with the manuscript can find any problems with regards to the numbering of the individual pages of the manuscript. This situation can arise if the person, during the entering of the page or sheets numbers, made some mistakes. The contents of the Applicable foliation and Applicable pagination statements are generated by the GENTEMP program (see [3]) and are also firmly set (see Applicable foliation and Applicable pagination statements).
The contents of the other statements can be arranged, just as they were in the first part of the file, so that the resulting texts in the HTML document are appropriately separated: A tab or one or more spaces at the beginning of the line, introduce a new paragraph and at the same time a new entry. Hard spaces, which are not supposed to be supplied at the end of the line during browsing, are marked like "_".
The statements can be written in any order.

Every manuscript must be described with the help of one of the
Foliation or Pagination statements. Foliation denotes the number of the described sheet,
where as Pagination denotes the number of the described page. The Foliation or Pagination
statements must appear in the description of each and every page of the manuscript. This
means that every record contains at least the number of the page to which it is connected.
The contents of the Foliation and Pagination statements are generated by the GENTEMP
program (see [3]). The following example demonstrates the information that the Foliation
and Pagination statements can contain.

The Foliation and Pagination statements are in no way influenced by the numbers of the
sheets or pages that are entered directly into the manuscript. A page with Foliation
or Pagination 1r or 1 is first in the digitized manuscript, 1v or 2 is second, 2r or 3 is
third, ... .
From the aforesaid, it results that none of the following situations can happen:
the record with Foliation 2r comes before the record with Foliation 1v, the record with
Foliation 10r follows the record with Foliation 11r, the record with Pagination BS comes
before the record with Pagination FC, the record with Pagination FS comes before the
record with Pagination I, the record with Pagination 3 follows the record with Pagination
1.
The GENTEMP program takes care of the generating of the Foliation or
Pagination statements in the text file. This file serves as an information source for
creating the HTML documents which represent the manuscript. The input data of the program
also contains the parameters which determine the sequence included in the Foliation and
Pagination statements.

The numbering of pages (this numbering comes from the numbers which were directly entered into the manuscript) which is referenced by literature and at the same time does not correspond with the actual order of the pages of the manuscript, is described by the Applicable foliation or Applicable pagination statements. Both the Applicable foliation statement and the Foliation statement can, at the same time, be a part of the description. Likewise, the Applicable pagination statement and the Pagination statement can, at the same time, be part of the description. This means that Applicable pagination can only occur with Pagination and Applicable foliation can occur only with Foliation.
We would like to mention again, that the contents of the Applicable foliation and Applicable pagination statements come from the numbers which are directly inserted into the manuscript. The pages or sheets of the manuscript are usually numbered after a larger number, after 10 for example. In an ideal situation, the manuscript will contain all of its original sheets and, at the same time, it will be accurately numbered. This means that the Applicable foliation and the Applicable pagination statements totally correspond with the Foliation and Pagination. In this case, only the Foliation of Pagination statements can occur in the description. If, however, the above mentioned conditions are not met, the Applicable foliation and Applicable pagination statements have one important characteristic that makes them different from the Pagination and Foliation. This characteristic is that each page or sheet number directly entered into the manuscript exactly corresponds with the contents of the Applicable foliation and Applicable pagination statements in the appropriate record. In the case that some numbers written into the manuscript are too close to each other thanks to the loss of pages or a mistake which happened during the numbering of the manuscript, some of the entries will be omitted in the contents of the Applicable foliation or Applicable pagination statements.
On the other hand, if there are too many sheets between the numbered pages then some entries are repeated in the contents of the Applicable foliation or Applicable pagination statements. In order to differentiate between the repeated entries Latin numerals are added to them (for example, 1 bis, 1 ter,...).

be used to separate the number from the Latin numeral and the Latin numeral from the
letter. Only the following Latin numerals are allowed: bis (twice), ter

times), decies (ten times). For example, FC, BF, IIv, 99r, 99v, 99 bis r, 99 bis v,
99 ter r, ..., all correspond to the Applicable foliation statement, whereas II bisr, FC
ter, II bis, 1, quatries 5r, 5r quinquies and 6quinquiesr are all incorrect.
2. The Applicable pagination statement can have the same contents as
the Foliation statement but the contents must correspond to the following
form

if the number is written using Arabic numerals. At least one space must be used to separate the number from the Latin numeral. Only the Latin numerals bis, ter, quatries, ..., decies are allowed. For example, FC, FS, I, IV, 99, 99 bis, 99 ter, ..., all correspond to the Applicable foliation statement, whereas entries II sesties, FS ter, IIr, 2 ter v, 1bis are all incorrect.
It is necessary to maintain the following order in the contents
of Applicable foliation:

3. It is necessary to maintain the following order in the contents
of Applicable pagination:

Generating Applicable foliation and Applicable pagination statements
The GENTEMP program takes care of the generating of the Applicable foliation and Applicable pagination statements in the text file. This file serves as an information source for creating the HTML documents which represent the manuscript. The input data of the program also contains the parameters which determine the sequence included in the Applicable foliation and Applicable pagination statements.
In order for the application to accurately construct the input line, the user must adhere to the following convention: The GENTEMP program enters into the input line Exceptionally numbered sheets (for Foliation and at the same time for Applicable foliation) / pages (for Pagination and at the same time for Applicable pagination). An unusual number is a number which in the sequence of the Applicable foliation or Applicable application statement occurs more than once or not at all. After the unusual number, the number of pages or sheets corresponding to that number is put into brackets. The number of spaces between the individual numbers and the separators do not matter. A comma is the only separator that can be used.
If the input line contains the following

and Foliation is chosen in the GENTEMP application, the nstatement with
contents (first, second, third, ..., record) is generated in the template.

He made a mistake, however, and put this number in the eleventh sheet, which is why the names 10 bis r and 10 bis v were increased in the description of the eleventh sheet (Applicable foliation is always identical to with the numbers written directly into the manuscript). Sheets which were lost from the manuscript at a later time, will not be represented in the
HTML document. Information about these sheets can only be found in the bibliographic
description. The record representing these kinds of sheets will not even be contained in
the template for creating the text files which describe the manuscript. All of the pages
and sheets of this type, which are not physically present in the manuscript, are located
in the input data of the GENTEMP program. This listing will be written into another input
line of the program and will contain Applicable foliation without r or v at the end or
Applicable pagination of all missing sheets or pages. The number of spaces between
individual letters and separators does not matter.
If the input line missing sheets contains
9, 10 bis, 20 ter
and Foliation is chosen in the formula of the program, these records are left out of the template, which would contain in the Applicable foliation statement the following entries

If the input line missing pages contains

and Pagination is chosen in the formula of the program, these records are left out of the template, which would contain in the Applicable pagination statement the following entries

If you want to describe the individual pages of the manuscript in more
detail (more than just by numbers of sheets or pages) you can use in the description, in
addition to Foliation/Pagination and Applicable pagination/Applicable foliation, up to 99
additional statements. The names of these statements can be automatically generated in the
template. This lightens the workload of the people preparing the text descriptions.
Generating the titles of additional statements of records of the template can be achieved by choosing the Extended choices in the GENTEMP application.
If you are preparing a more detailed description of the manuscript,
enter the number of additional statements of records in the line which is titled Number of
additional statements. Additional statements are all the statements, except
Foliation/Pagination and Applicable foliation/Applicable pagination. Afterwards,
additional choices for assigning the attributes of your defined statements appears. Put
the name of the statement into the line entitled Name and choose one of the TEXT,
DATE or NUMBER types in the line entitled Type. Then write the label and language
of the statement. You can shift between the statements by pressing the Forward
and Back buttons.
For the contents of the Contents, Notation, and Illumination statements from the bibliographic description (general information about the manuscript) exist certain rules. The rules can, but do not have to be adhered to by the user. If these rules are adhered to, HTML references on the presentation of individual pages of the manuscript are generated in these statements. If the contents of these statements do not correspond with the rule, during the generation of HTML documents a warning is written with every non-corresponding entry.
If we want HTML references on the presentation of individual pages to be automatically created in the Contents, Notation, or Illuminations statements, we have to adhere to the following rules during their writing:
Each entry is preceded by a tab (eventually one or more spaces) and the
numbers of the pages are referred to. If the name refers to only one page, its Applicable
foliation or Applicable pagination is followed by a colon. If the name of the statement
refers to more than one page, the Applicable foliation or Applicable pagination of the
first page of the appropriate number is at the beginning of the line and is followed by a
hyphen which is followed by the Applicable foliation or Applicable pagination of the last
page of the appropriate number and at the end there is a colon. In the case that
Applicable foliation or Applicable pagination is not contained in the description,
Foliation or Pagination is used in its place.
