The third meeting of the International Advisory Committee for the Memory of the World Programme was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, from 29 September to 1 October 1997.
The main purpose of this meeting
was to review progress achieved by the "Memory of the World" Programme and
make recommendations to the Director-General of UNESCO on placing
nominated documentary heritage on the "Memory of the World" Register,
granting "Memory of the World" label to selected projects
and raising funds for the Programme.
