What are Associated Schools ?

The UNESCO Associated Schools Project Network (ASPnet) includes over 5.600 institutions (pre-schools, elementary schools including technical and vocational and teacher training institutions) in 162 countries around the world. Member schools are carrying out pilot projects and experimental activities in order to reinforce the role of education to promote a culture of peace and non-violence. Associated Schools focus on four main themes of study: world concerns and the United Nations system, human rights and democracy, intercultural learning and environmental issues. ASPnet is designed to have a multiplier effect whereby its innovations are incorporated into the mainstream of education for the benefit of other schools.
