Objectives

Establish at least six more community radio stations. Launch a programme of research and training for community media. Help establish Tambuli Foundation.

Activities

Management team contract established. Four new community radio stations established and operational in Cabagan, St Teresita, Maragusan and Aborlan. Tambuli National Community Radio Conference held in September 1997. Three instructional manuals (Neighbourhood productions, technical manual, Code of conduct) developed and published. A regular Newsletter for exchange of information among the 10 Tambuli Community radio stations published Tambuli Foundation Established Code of conduct) developed and published. To establish a central WEB site fat the Philippine Press Institute to provide international access to exposure of around 90 community newspapers in the Philippines.
To establish six regional feeding centres to update the central WEB site and to provide training and equipment to maintain the network.

Consultative meeting with the PPI was held.

Project was approved in December 1997.
