To improve the overall output and quality or printing and broadcast journalism in Tajikistan.
To promote a greater flow of information through the development of the independent mass media.
To provide practical training opportunities for radio, television and printing journalists.
To establish a venue for national and international workshops and seminars on legal, ethical and legislative matters relevant to the development of an independent press.
To develop an information/research library and data base of reference materials for journalists' use.

  Activities

Renovation work on studio at the Tajik State University has commenced. Equipment and resource material for the reference library is purchased.

94%. Project implementation delayed considerably due to civil war situation in Tajikistan.
Awaiting advice from BBC engineers as to a configuration of radio equipment.

90%. Uncertainties concerning the license to private media cuased a delay in implementing the project. Due to unclear situation of future of Somoniyon it was decided that equipment should be installed and used at the MRC in Bishkek. This way, a Regional Television Development Production Studio will be established, managed by a fully trained production team. Equipment will be installed at the MRC in Bishkek as soon as its TV studio has been renovated. Project completed. o Evaluation pending.
