Objectives

Improve Paraguay's capability in communication for development by establishing a communi-cation and information system in the Polytechnic Faculty that will galvanize support for educational activities, foster research, promote university extension work and provide channels for the dissemination of information.

 

Activities

1. Set up a network of 20 seconday schools throughour the country.
2. Train 100 young people.
3. Produce 10 monthly programmes for television (1 hour each).
4. Animate a monthly forum for young people.
5. Publish a book on the experience.
1. The audio-visual centre for both production and technical training has been equipped and organized professionally and administratively.
2. Two intensive courses on the use of communication as a teaching resource have been carried out. 34 teachers have been trained.
3. Three workshops on production of radio broadcasts have been carried out. 43 journalists, social workers and cultural group leaders have been trained. Nine mini-programs have been produced.
4. An elementary guide for teachers on the use of communication as a teaching and learning resource has been produced.

  Objectives

Contribute to the strengthening of the democratic system in the country through training, support for new independent sources of information, the production of domestic programmes and a better understanding of the mass media. Support the on-going production of audiovisual material as an aid to the teaching activities of the Politechnic School . Stimulate mechanisms for freedom of expression, tolerance and pluralism of ideas and to aid access to and free circulation of information.

  Activities

1. Provide equipment for the University Public Service Communications System.
2. Hold an intensive technical workshop.
3. Hold an intensive refresher training workshop for 40 lecturers
4. Hold 9 intensive, modular communications workshops for the community to train 180 community communications trainers.
5. Draft, publish and distribute a basic book on Communication for Community Democracy.
