Objectives

Give local people a sense of identity through an alternative television channel which keeps local problems and possible solutions constantly in the public eye.

Activities

1. A system of technical support for the strengthening of Popular Communication Centre of Villa El Salvador has been designed and developed.
2. Proper equipment has been purchased and installed.
3. The first programmes have been produced and transmitted.

Promote more detailed and extensive coverage in the media of the topics of citizenship and participation in civil society. Help to strengthen democracy through a pluralistic, responsible and well-informed press.

1. Conduct three seminar-workshops in three Peruvian cities on communication strategies for civic education and the role of the media in strengthening municipal structures for the benefit of 90 communicators, journalists and officials.
2. Organize a national seminar in Lima with a view to devise training civic education programmes.
3. Carry out a national research on the civic culture of the population and the treatment of the State and the citizen by the mass media.
4. Produce a multimedia module on the functions and responsibilities of the municipality and its relationship with the local community. Publish a booklet, offprints and a book (1,000 copies).
