Objectives

Sustain technical and artistic training for video and TV as an instrument of education and communication. Make good use of the nature of EICTV's pilot experiment in audio-visual training in the Third World so that it can become a multi-national centre for the exchange of knowledge and technology.

 

Activities

Three workshops and one seminar on video production including post-production and sound editing have been carried out. 42 movie producers have been trained. Adequate equipment has been purchased. Publish two teaching guides. Film the training seminars and workshops in order to circulate them in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Foster the growth of , as well as deepen, linkages between women's media watch group in the Caribbean. Development awareness building of women and gender issues amongst Caribbean Women media professionals. Generate the capacity of Caribbean women media practitioners to produce gender sensitive materials.

Equip WMW Jamaica and each of the new WMW group with a computer to facilitate research. Produce and upgrade gender sensitive training materials. Organise orientation seminar/workshops, etc. Update database on Caribbean women media practitioners.

Strengthen the community level communication capabilities of the concerned sectors as a basis for autonomous and permanent development. Increase the awareness of peoples of the Caribbean Basin regarding their shared history, etc.

Provide the technical equipment to establish a community radio station in Bluefields, Jamaica and upgrade the existing radio station in Bluefields, Nicaragua. Training for 24 Community members (12 of each) in radio production, etc. Exchange programmes.
