Since introduction in 1845 of wood pulp paper, documents printed or written on this material are at risk. The lignin contained in the paper produces organic acids which disintegrate the cellulose fibres, the paper then becomes brittle. In the end, books and periodicals disintegrate completely. Example: French print, 1953
