Country: PortugalPlanned Activities: We are joining "Women Make the News" this year, but since 1995 the March 8 edition of our regional weekly newspaper (owned by the Regimprensa co-operative) covers women’s perspectives on the dialogue on public policy and practices, and cultural and gender issues. The March 8 edition is under the direction of a woman, an expert in gender issues. In 2001, like last year, the 8 March edition will have a focus on women’s perspectives. All journalists write the news in order to give more visibility to women in all the areas and subjects of our newspaper. Notícias da Amadora has a tradition in this matter since the fight against dictatorship in Portugal, when freedom and the democratic cause were at issue. Notícias da Amadora was first published in 1958.
