Discover the "PBF Project"

Within the framework of the PBF project "Participation of young people in the prevention and management of identity-based conflicts linked to the desecration and exploitation of sacred forests in the department of Biankouma in Côte d'Ivoire", the UNESCO Abidjan office, through the videos below, has carried out an awareness-raising campaign for the preservation of sacred forests and the social cohesion of the communities of the department of Biankouma.

The project aimed to prevent identity-based and generational conflicts and to strengthen social cohesion and the preservation of cultural heritage in the department of Biankouma, by raising awareness, informing and mobilising young people (men and women) from all communities around the protection of sacred forests and the peaceful management of conflicts.  Specifically, the aim was to contribute to: i) reducing conflicts arising from the desecration or exploitation of sacred forests ii) preserving and promoting tangible and intangible cultural heritage and traditional mechanisms for preventing identity and generational conflicts in order to restore cultural identity with a view to contributing to the social cohesion of communities around sacred forests and sites.

Interethnic alliances

Interethnic alliances are pacts of non-aggression, solidarity and mutual assistance woven between two or more cultural identities / communities with a view to pacifying relations between them for better cohabitation. This alliance manifests itself in particular through various forms of joke (relationship to joke). Alliances operate both outside and within ethnicities.
