Call for Application - Design Hackathon & Collab
Background & Rationale:
Recognized as UNESCO Creative City of Design in 2019, Ha Noi has committed to place culture and creativity at the core of its sustainable development, with a wider vision to become a leading creative hub of Southeast Asia. In order to support the commitment of the city, UNESCO is leading the project Mobilizing Cultural Dynamics and Youth Participation towards Ha Noi Creative Capital with the slogan “Hanoi Rethink” together with other two implementing partners UNIDO and UN Habitat with the support from SOVICO GROUP This project will support Ha Noi City to implement its new strategic vision of a Creative City of Design, harnessing its cultural assets and youth participation as key agents for innovation, creativity, and social change. One of the main three key outcomes of the project is to empower young Vietnamese creative talent to influence and contribute to the new development agenda of Ha Noi as the Creative Capital with innovative ideas and actions.
The current situation of Covid-19 in Viet Nam has made it difficult for people to gather in public or get outside. However, Covid-19 cannot stop creativity flow. In order to promote Ha Noi as the creative capital and to connect the mass audience to the young designers’ community, UNESCO is organizing a Design Hackathon with a focus on the utilization of Vietnamese culture and local culture and a collaborative program with creative agencies across Viet Nam to produce a series of talk show and podcast events with the theme “Rethink ‘n Chill.” This program will contribute to the month long event of Ha Noi Creative City Celebration (October 2021) and act as a platform to connect youth-led initiatives in the country.
