OVERVIEW OF THE FUNCTIONS OF THE POST: ICT Trainer
 
 
A. Background
UNESCO's Capacity Development for Education (CapED) Programme is an extra-budgetary funding mechanism and programme approach created in 2003. It is based on the understanding that education reforms, with a view to achieving internationally agreed education goals and targets, including SDG 4, will not be effective if countries lack the capacities to make them operational. With an overarching capacity development approach, the Programme seeks to improve the quality of education and increase learning opportunities, especially for girls, women, and disadvantaged population groups. As one of the priority countries of UNESCO's Education Sector, Sudan is currently benefiting from the CapED Programme with a focus on Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET).
 
The CapED project in Sudan aims at supporting the implementation of the TVET policy review recommendations with specific focus on:
Strategy development together with its implementation plan. On the policy level, only the governance will be fully addressed.
National dialogue regarding qualifications system.
Upgrading and quality development of selected TVET institutions.
 
 
Tasks for project: UNESCO CAP-ED Programme For Enhancing TVET
in Sudan
 
To build the capacities of administration staff of selected TVET institutions in ICT based on assessment results which were collected earlier by UNESCO. These institutions include:
Geraif Sharg Technical College
Omdurman Technical Secondary School for Girls
Omdurman Technical Secondary School for Boys
Khartoum 2 Vocational Training Center
Sudanese Korean Vocational Training Center
Chinese Vocational Training Center
Khartoum 3 Vocational Training Center
Khartoum North Vocational Training Center
 
The estimated number of trainees from each institution will be around 10 participants each, including the directors, assistant directors, students affairs, registrars and accountants, among others. The administration staff will have their capacities built in order to be able to perform data entry and manage records of various kind including, but not limited to, staff and students records, curricula, courses offered, apprenticeships data, training companies, tracking of graduates, training tools etc.
 
Under the supervision of the Head of UNESCO Khartoum Office and the direct supervision of the National Project Coordinator, the consultant will execute the following tasks:
Build on recommendations from the previously conducted assessment of the institutions to determine training needs and submit to UNESCO Khartoum a training plan covering duration and training guide, splitting the training into advanced and basic levels.
The training plan to cover:
The date and time of trainings .
The subject to be delivered.
The training guide to include:
Detailed instructions on how to use the hardware and software in Arabic language.
Use pictures and diagrams were relevant.
Training syllabus to cover:
Use of PC, mouse, printer, scanner.
MS Windows, Word and Excel.
Training on using internet: browsers & searching, emails, Skype, Zoom.
Advise on a suitable training environment to host the trainings. Ensure that adequate number of PCs are supplied containing the required software with the most recent versions.
Demonstrate to trainees method of information collection and management.
Coordinate and manage attendance of participants at training.
Conduct a post training questionnaire to survey the level of satisfaction by trainees.
Conduct a post training assessment for trainees.
Coordinate the issuing of training certificates to participants.
Oversee and ensure that PCs donated by UNESCO Khartoum office are handed over to the institutions are ready for use and are equipped with required software: MS Windows 10, Word & Excel 2016, Zoom, Skype, antivirus.
Ensure the PCs are secured with a password and controlled only by UNESCO until the end of the training.
Recommend any additional training which the consultant considers to be important.
Submit a report detailing progress of training for the selected institutions, and share feedback or comments received from participants.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education
Bachelors degree in education, e-learning, ICT or any other related field.
 
Work Experience
Minimum of 7 years of ICT training/e-learning experience at all levels (beginner, middle and advanced levels) with a proven track record of successful delivery of trainings.
5 years teaching experience online and teaching in educational institutions.
Proven experience in designing tailor made training, developing customized courses, syllabuses, and content.
Conducted surveys and data collection and analysis.

Languages
Excellent knowledge (oral and written) in English and Arabic.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Masters degree in ICT or e-learning training from a recognized institution
Pedagogical certifications.
