Promoting peace in the Lake Chad basin through the sustainable management of its resources
A financing agreement was signed between UNESCO and the Lake Chad Basin Commission LCBC on 29 May 2017 at the LCBC headquarters in NDjamena Chad to fund the project Applying the model of transboundary biosphere reserves and World Heritage sites to promote peace in the Lake Chad basin through the sustainable management of natural resources

Lake Chad: UNESCO promotes the consideration of the ecological crisis at the Berlin Conference
UNESCO and the partners of the Biosphere and Heritage of Lake Chad BIOPALT project participated in the HighLevel Conference on the Lake Chad Region held in Berlin from 3 to 4 September On this occasion UNESCO emphasised the need to address the ecological crisis together with the humanitarian and security crises in order to reduce poverty and promote peace and development in the Lake Chad basin

BIOPALT project strengthens transboundary collaboration in the Lake Chad region
The stakeholders and partners of the project BIOsphere and Heritage of Lake Chad BIOPALT met in NDjamena from 28 to 31 May 2018 to discuss their collaboration for the implementation of the project Launched on 28 February 2018 the BIOPALT project aims to strengthen the capacity of the member states of the Lake Chad Basin Commission LCBC to safeguard and sustainably manage the hydrological biological and cultural resources of the Lake Chad Basin in order to contribute to poverty reduction and to promote peace
