The overarching goal was to define Africa's strategic stance within the global movement for educational transformation.
In pursuit of this vision, the African Union is meticulously crafting an extensive roadmap, outlining pivotal action lines along critical thematic areas that will propel tangible initiatives aimed at reshaping education across the continent:
- Development of teachers: The African Union acknowledged their pivotal role in shaping the educational landscape.
- Emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education: The African Union committed to fostering innovation and equipping the youth with essential and practical STEM skills.
- Positioning of digital education as cornerstone of transformative roadmap: The African Union recognized the indispensable role of technology in modernizing and democratizing education.
The significance of higher education was also emphasized, along with the importance of fostering open dialogues to address a diverse array of educational challenges. Notably, collaboration emerges as a central theme, as the African Union is set to engage closely with various stakeholders to refine and finalize the roadmap.
The unveiling of the completed roadmap during the Heads of State and Government gathering is an eagerly anticipated milestone slated for February 2024.
