Holocaust Education and the Prevention of Genocide - Adama Deng
Mr Adama Deng, Special Adviser of the United Nations for the Prevention of Genocide, explains the role of the United Nations in halting processes of discrimination and violence against groups that may lead to mass atrocities and genocide. He highlights the links between education about the Holocaust, as promoted by UNESCO, and the work of his office in alerting the world about the dangers of genocide today. Mr Dieng was a guest of UNESCO for the 2013 International Day of Commemoration in Memory of Victims of the Holocaust, and gave the keynote speech at the high-level panel discussion “From Holocaust Education to the Prevention of Genocide: What have we learnt from the past?” held at UNESCO headquarters on 28 January 2013, in partnership with his Office
