Our future depends on how we respond to the global environmental, social, economical and cultural changes that we are witnessing today. While developing strategies to face up to these challenges, we have grown increasingly aware that culture and cultural diversity are intimately and effectively related to nature and biological diversity, and can profoundly influence the human and environmental capacity to manage or to adapt to such changes.
