Byzantine Chant

Language: English

As a living art over 2000 years old, the Byzantine chart is a significant cultural tradition and music system belonging to the musical traditions originating in the Byzantine Empire. Focused on musically enhancing the liturgical texts of the Greek Orthodox Church, it is inextricably linked with spiritual life and religious workshop. It is an exclusively vocal music and employs different rhythmic styles to accentuate desired syllables of specific words. In addition to transmission in church, the Byzantine chart is flourishing due to the dedication of experts and non-experts alike.
