Schools in the Desert: Film Strip. Commentary by David Leff
Language: English
UNESCO presents Schools in the Desert, an eyewitness film strip. This programme outlines the plight of Arab Refugees since they fled from the war in Palestine in 1948. The United Nations (UN) Agencies provided health protection services, child care, and UNESCO provided schooling for children. In 1953, nearly 71,000 attended 150 Refugee Camp schools operated by UNESCO and the UN Relief and Works Agency. This programme was a call for UNESCO Gift Coupons in order to get educational equipment and tools for the youth to fight illiteracy and to help them develop other skills. The commentary is by David Leff.
