The Eastern African Conference on National Mechanisms for the Safety of Journalists took place in Nairobi, Kenya, from 13 to 14 November 2017.
During the conference, good practices on national, regional and international mechanisms for safety of journalists were shared, as well as the methodology to localise such mechanisms in Eastern Africa. The conference also built the capacity of Safety of Journalist’s focal persons from the relevant Government institutions and Ministries, in accordance with the UN Plan of Action on Safety of Journalists approved by the UN General Assembly in 2012.
