This consultation meeting brought together various stakeholders of arts and culture to raise awareness of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions and the capacity-building project to be implemented in Rwanda, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).
Ratified by Rwanda in 2012, the 2005 Convention calls upon its Parties to carve out strategic policies and measures facilitating the creation, production, dissemination and enjoyment of cultural goods and services, regardless of their commercial value. The quadrennial periodic reporting exercise for the Convention is a tool for all parties concerned to reflect on relevant measures taken to guarantee the diversity of expressions and foster the value chain of cultural goods and services.
