Talk on International Society for Education Through Art

Language: English

This talk by Edwin Ziefield outlines the founding of the International Society for Education Through Art (INSEA). Dr. Ziedield outlines how INSEA held its first General Assembly in Paris from July 5th-10th in 1954, an outgrowth of a UNESCO seminar on the teaching of visual arts and general education held in Bristol, England in 1951. The participants of the seminar benefited greatly from the sharing of ideas and decided to set up this society to continue sharing information on developments in education on a worldwide and continuing basis. Dr. Ziefield elaborates on the revolution in the role of arts in education at the time, and how it moved from a peripheral to a central role in education.
