The Future of Art Education: creativity

Language: English

This talk by Sir Herbert Read of the International Society for Education Through Art, InSEA, concerns the first General Assembly of the International Society for Education Through Art (InSEA) and explores how InSEA sought to centre all forms of education around education through art. Read discusses how InSEA was founded on the belief that creative activity is a basic need common to all people. An education based on creative activities is a natural and effective means of learning. Read argues that the universal language of artistic expression is a striking demonstration of our common humanity and it should be nurtured and explored through educational means.
