Rex Keating interviews Professor John Otis Brew, the chairman of the International Committee on Monuments, Artistic and Historical Sites, and Archaeological Excavations. The committee met at UNESCO House to discuss matters of concern regarding the protection of cultural heritage in various member states. Three points of great importance were considered in the meeting: the ratification of the 1954 Hague Convention for the protection of cultural property in the event of armed conflict, international regulations for archaeological investigations, and the destruction of cultural heritage, monuments, archaeological sites and landscapes due to the development of industrial regions.
