The UNESCO Chair in Open Distance Learning (ODL) at the University of South Africa (UNISA), aims to develop capacity building in research in ODL for professional development of staff in ODL at UNISA, and also to establish within the UNITWIN Programme especially linkages with other UNESCO Chairs in Africa, and also dialoguing with partner universities in U.K. and Canada with regard to ODL. The Chair functions as an Institute in ODL. In this technological age, the UNITWIN Programme has a very positive impact on African ODL institutions.
