A commentary on the meeting held at UNESCO House for the International Committee on Monuments, Artistic and Historical Sites, and Archaeological Excavations. The meeting focused on the destruction of cultural heritage, archaeological sites, and landscapes destroyed by the development of industrialized societies. The committee called on all member states to protect their ancient and artistic monuments and sites. They also addressed concern over the construction of a dam on the Nile in Aswan, Egypt. Viewpoints are heard from the chairman of the committee John Otis Brew, and a member from Egypt, Mustafa Ahmed.
