In this recording, John Irwin, assistant keeper of the Indian section at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, England, is interviewed about museums and their importance in the modern world. Mr. Irwin discusses how museums have changed to become more welcoming to all people, not just experts, and their unique potential to educate the public about different subjects. Having recently returned from a UNESCO mission in Indonesia to assist with the development of a national Indonesian museum, Mr. Irwin also explains the significance of the concept of unity in diversity and how this will be integrated into the museum.
