The Barefoot College began in 1972 and is situated in the state of Rajasthan, India. It trains barefoot teachers, doctors, solar engineers, hand pump mechanics, designers, chemists, communicators, construction engineers and accountants.

The college also has created a non-formal education process for children and adults which assists students to develop a sustainable community. Their barefoot process has radiated to surrounding villages and taken root in thirteen Indian states...
