Land of Legends
In Sweden, as elsewhere, various factors such as industrialization, urbanization, television and social media have threatened the viability of storytelling practices. In the late 1980s, a group of librarians and teachers in Kronoberg organized a festival to discuss this situation; shortly after, the Storytelling Network of Kronoberg was created, which then initiated the Land-of-Legends Programme. The Programme organizes a range of activities including a storytelling festival, camps for teenagers, activities in schools and courses for future teachers, and helps to link storytelling to other forms of living heritage.
