Interview of Edward Weld, from the USA delegation, about the fourth conference on the North Atlantic Ocean Stations

Language: English

This is an interview with Edward M. Weld, a secretary general of the fourth International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) conference on the North Atlantic Ocean Stations meetings in Paris. Mr. Weld explains the features of the new agreement arrived at by the 15 member states. The agreement covers the operation of the network of Ocean Weather Stations that have been maintained since 1946 under the sponsorship of ICAO. The new agreement resulted in reducing the network from ten to nine stations. The principal objectives of the ICAO conference were to promote the continued development of a safe, efficient and sustainable European air transport system and to harmonize civil aviation policies and practices among its Member States.
