Eestablishment of a Fundamental Education Centre in Korea
Howard Haydon discusses his UNESCO mission in South Korea where he aids in the establishment of a fundamental education centre: the National Fundamental Education, Training and Research Centre of Korea. The project is carried out through UNESCO’s Fundamental Education Programme and in cooperation with the United Nations Korean Reconstruction Agency (UNKRA). UNKRA funded the building of the centre and operation costs for two years. The goal of this project is to provide training to educational leaders and improve standards of living in rural areas through education. Students of the centre conduct fieldwork by promoting agriculture and health education, and providing financial advisory services. Audiovisual materials, primarily film, are used to facilitate teaching.
