UNESCO Radio presents a series of programmes that demonstrate the living traditional music of China. This programme highlights how the music encourages listeners to engage in a reflective awareness of the external world, both the world of mankind and the world of nature. This recording includes clips of various soothing and harmonious traditional songs featuring the Gu Qin. This recording showcases a collection by Zhu Chenhao, Prince of Ning, and among other artists. This programme was written by ethnomusicologist Laurence Picken and introduced by Peter Crossely-Holland.
