It was built by the architect Balthasar Neumann and its ceiling fresco, by the Venetian painter Giovanni Battista Tiepolo, is the largest in the World. Completed in 1753, the Residence was almost totally destroyed in the Second World War. Years of painstaking and meticulous work went into rebuilding the palace and restoring to its former glory.
